Casting Call:
HAPAA—Hispanic Alliance for Performing and Audiovisual Arts—opens its casting call for Calixto’s Tale, a new family theater production that will be presented in Houston in December 2026, as part of our Freedom250 programming in honor of the nation’s semiquincentennial in 2026.
We are looking for people over 18 years of age interested in being part of a production that integrates acting, singing, dancing and theatrical narration.
The call is open to people of any gender, identity, appearance, cultural profile or level of experience. We invite both professional artists and emerging people who wish to share their talent and grow within a theatrical creation process to participate.
Requirements:
Age: Over 18 years old
Experience:
- Bilingualism in English and Spanish is an advantage but not required.
- Have an interest in and availability to participate in a family-friendly theater production.
- All experience levels are welcome.
- Possess skills or an interest in acting, singing, and dancing.
- Reside in Houston or be available to attend rehearsals and performances in person in Houston, Texas.
Disciplines
Acting: Submit a link to a video of yourself performing a monologue, scene, or sketch (maximum 3 minutes long; open theme).
Optional: Singing – Submit a link to a video of yourself singing a one-minute excerpt from a musical theatre song with a backing track (not a cappella).
Optional: Dance – Submit a link to a video of yourself performing a one-minute choreographed routine (musical theatre or modern dance genre).
