TRENDING TOPIC

Everyone wants to trend. No one is ready for it. Trending Topic: what are we willing to sacrifice to be seen?

📖 Synopsis

Luna Lux lives to be seen.

In front of the camera, her life seems perfect: followers, likes, attention, and an audience watching her every move. But behind the screen, the line between the public and the private begins to blur.

What starts as just another night with her followers gradually transforms into a disturbing game of exposure, obsession, and control—where every message seems to know too much, and every new interaction further invades her privacy.

How much of ourselves do we give away in exchange for attention? What happens when we lose control over who is watching us? And what remains of our identity when our life becomes content?

TRENDING TOPIC is a contemporary one-woman show starring Janice Sosa—written and directed by Alexandro Xilo Martínez—that explores digital fame, the need for validation, public exposure, and the dangers that can lurk behind a screen.

Because becoming a trending topic can take mere seconds.

Escaping it can be far more difficult.

CAST

Janice Sosa (Luna Lux)

That same year, she took a significant step in her career by starring in *Trending Topic*—a play written and directed by Alexandro Xilo Martínez—marking her **debut as an actress on the Houston, Texas stage** and her **first solo performance**, as she embraced the challenge of carrying the dramatic action entirely on her own.

Since 2017, he has staged eleven theater productions in Houston, Texas, starting with *Cama Para Tres*, *Caja de Pandora*, and *La Vida es Corta* under the Chilakill Entertainment banner. He has also collaborated with various local companies, appearing in *El Arca de José* with Teatro Pedro and *Manos de Mariposa* with the Houston Community Theater as part of the 2019 International Autumn Festival (FIO).

In 2021, he founded and began directing the non-profit cultural organization Hispanic Alliance for the Performing and Audiovisual Arts (HAPAA), followed by the Carol Theater in 2024. Thanks to its impact on the Houston theater scene, HAPAA has been recognized by institutions such as Houston BANF, Houston MOCA, the Houston Arts Alliance, the Mid-America Arts Alliance, and the National Endowment for the Arts.

Now, Xilo returns to direct an original piece he authored, *Trending Topic*, demonstrating once again how art, entertainment, and technology complement one another.
